Applied Music is the academic path closest to the job market which is in continuous evolution, the study path is aimed to provide artistic and compositional support to the entertainment industries (Cinema, Television, Gaming, Prose, Musical, Communication).

Real job projects in partnership with Italian and European institutions for the production of videogames, short films, documentaries, theatrical performances and more.

It is a limited students number course, open to a maximum of 5 students per year, coming from Saint Louis 1st Cycle Academic courses or selected through audition.

Technology has a fundamental role in applied music as the composer must have extensive competence in composing and orchestrating virtually, also in processing a sound through a synthesis and / or sampling technique, in processing and assembling all the sound information in a mix. multichannel or 3D.

  • Gaming & App: Music for video games, introduction to MiddleWare, the FMOD application, the concept of ASSET, the compositional technique of VERTICAL REMIX (Stem / layer concept), Unity, Scripting
  • Film, Tv series, documentaries: Realization of music for original films and short films, fragments of film scenes, documentaries
  • Music for theater and music for dance: In partnership with the National Dance Academy of Rome and with prestigious theatrical institutions for the realization and production of multidisciplinary shows.
  • Sound design
  • Copyright and royalties: The record industry, publishing, contracts, Siae and copyright, royalties.

At the end of the 2nd Cycle academic two-year period, the student can complete his/her specialization studies with a specialization Master program (acknowledged by the Ministry of Education).

  • Public competitions for music teaching (upon reaching the 24 university or academic credits in anthropo-psycho-pedagogical disciplines and in teaching methodologies and technologies)



Since 2012 Saint Louis has participated in the Erasmus + program, which offers the possibility to every student of Academic level to live periods of mobility in other European and Extra-European Higher Education Institutes for study or internship projects.

Each student can therefore benefit of a maximum of 12 months of study or internship abroad for each study cycle (12 months max in the three-year first cycle, 12 months max in the two-year second cycle of academic studies), choosing one’s destination among a wide and excellent offer of foreign partners that Saint Louis has established and consolidated over time.

REQUIREMENTS: 1st Cycle three-year academic diploma already achieved or to be achieved by the February session (registration with reservation)

  2. Fill in the application webform: You can apply to take part in the entrance exam to the 1st and 2nd cycle academic courses from 3rd February to 30th April. International students may apply as of January 1st every year until 30th April. Applications submitted subsequently may be considered only on the basis of the places remaining available.
  3. Take the admission tests on site:Admission tests are held on at least two consecutive days. International candidates can sit the tests online.

Mandatory attendance to the minimum extent of the 80% of the lessons.

  • FULL-TIME ATTENDANCE: Classes are mostly held with fortnightly cadence, organized in alternate weeks, with the exception of the instrument / singing lesson which can be organized at the student’s choice on a weekly or fortnightly basis. About 300 hours of classes per year.
  • PART-TIME ATTENDANCE: Students who, for work or distance reasons, are unable to attend all the lessons provided for in the study plan can personalize their own study plan choosing how many subjects to attend from year to year. Part-time attendance implies a probable extension of the course of study beyond 3 years.
