Second cycle Academic Diploma

The second cycle academic diploma on Composition and Film & TV Scoring courses are built around each student, for the development of the own artistic personality, aimed at original artistic productions both for recording productions and concerts, written and directed by the trainee.

Each trainee will conduct an orchestra of 40 elements each year for the recording of the own soundtracks and will create soundtracks for short films, films, advertisements and multimedia products, developing the own personal style.

Professional orchestral sound reconstruction capabilities with virtual instruments alone will enable professional sound reproduction for film and television.

It is a limited students number course, open to a maximum of 12 students, coming from Saint Louis pre-academic courses or selected through audition.

  • Integrated audiovisual composition: Creative laboratory of compositional experimentation on theatrical scenes, video games, commercials, film sequences.
  • Writing music for images: Specialization in contemporary styles and languages ​​in film and television production.
  • Virtual orchestration and music production: Orchestration with virtual instruments of famous orchestral scores, with articulations and effects in order to obtain a professional orchestral sound all in the box.
  • Composition: Each trainee student will have 34 hours of one-to-one classes and will be allowed to choose whether to attend them with one or two teachers each year, specializing in specific areas of composition in agreement with the teacher/teachers.

At the end of the 2nd Cycle academic two-year period, the student can complete his/her specialization studies with a specialization Master program (acknowledged by the Ministry of Education).

  • Public competitions for music teaching (upon reaching the 24 university or academic credits in anthropo-psycho-pedagogical disciplines and in teaching methodologies and technologies)

Since 2012 Saint Louis has participated in the Erasmus + program, which offers the possibility to every student of Academic level to live periods of mobility in other European and Extra-European Higher Education Institutes for study or internship projects.

Each student can therefore benefit of a maximum of 12 months of study or internship abroad for each study cycle (12 months max in the three-year first cycle, 12 months max in the two-year second cycle of academic studies), choosing one’s destination among a wide and excellent offer of foreign partners that Saint Louis has established and consolidated over time.

REQUIREMENTS: 1st Cycle three-year academic diploma already achieved or to be achieved by the February session (registration with reservation)

  1. Consult the Admission Requirements and Study Plan section: Check that your preparation is in line with the skills required for the individual tests by accessing the “Admission requirements and study plan” section.
  2. Fill in the application webform: You can apply to take part in the entrance exam to the 1st and 2nd cycle academic courses from 3rd February to 30th April. International students may apply as of January 1st every year until 30th April. Applications submitted subsequently may be considered only on the basis of the places remaining available.
  3. Take the admission tests on site:Admission tests are held on at least two consecutive days. International candidates can sit the tests online.

Mandatory attendance to the minimum extent of the 80% of the lessons.

  • FULL-TIME ATTENDANCE: Classes are mostly held with fortnightly cadence, organized in alternate weeks, with the exception of the instrument / singing lesson which can be organized at the student’s choice on a weekly or fortnightly basis. About 300 hours of classes per year.
  • PART-TIME ATTENDANCE: Students who, for work or distance reasons, are unable to attend all the lessons provided for in the study plan can personalize their own study plan choosing how many subjects to attend from year to year. Part-time attendance implies a probable extension of the course of study beyond 3 years.
