Furio Di Castri born in Milan in 1955, has lived in Buenos Aires, Naples, Venice, Turin, Tunis, Rome, and Paris.

Self-taught, he began his study of music with trumpet, then electric bass and double bass. He recorded his first record in 1973.

In 1978 he settled in Rome where he began playing in the groups of Maurizio Giammarco and Massimo Urbani.

  • He has been teaching Jazz Composition, Double Bass and Electric Jazz Bass in Italian conservatories for 26 years and has participated in 32 editions of the International Summer Jazz workshops in Siena.
  • He has given master classes in composition, ensemble music and double bass in Den Haag, Dublin, Lausanne, Chambery, Buenos Aires, Paris, Mexico City, Chicago, Milwaukee and at various institutions in Italy.
  • As Artistic Director in 2012, he conceived the Torino Jazz Festival – Fringe (TJFF), which he directed for 5 years. In 2017 and 2018, he conceived and directed the Florence Jazz Festival.
