Gianluca Podio born in Rome in 1963, graduated in piano, conducting, and composition and holds a Level II academic degree in Composition from the 20th century to the present.

Fundamental to his artistic and human formation was his deep friendship with Goffredo Petrassi.

He then took master classes in composition with such composers as Karlheinz Stockausen, Salvatore Sciarrino, George Hurst and Ennio Morricone, with whom he collaborated for more than a decade.

He is active both as a composer and conductor and as a pianist.

He has conducted major national and European orchestras, and his compositions are regularly performed in important venues in Italy and abroad.

He is the author in addition of much commentary music for films, documentaries and television productions.

Study, work and taste inclination have led Gianluca Podio toward a variety of musical styles and expressions ranging from the great classics to pop.

He wrote numerous songs many of which were interpreted by singers such as Renato Zero, Mina and Fiorella Mannoia while with Pino Daniele, with whom he collaborated from 1997 until his untimely death.

  • 2022 held at the Cappella Paolina of Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome a solo piano recital with music by Sergio Endrigo, Gino Paoli, Gianluca Podio in tribute to the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the foibe (RAI Radiotre -Diretta Euroradio).
  • 2013 and in 2014 he also orchestrated and conducted the concerts for large symphony orchestra that Pino Daniele gave in prestigious theaters.
  • 2019 conducted a large symphony concert of film music with his own original arrangements and orchestrations at the San Carlo Theater in Naples.
