Michele Papadia in addition to classical and mainly jazz studies, at the same time as his university studies in Architecture, specialized in various aspects of African American music (jazz, blues, gospel, funk, soul, nusoul, pop, live eletronics).

He attended Siena Jazz ’94 and ’95 summer seminars and the same year won a scholarship and attended the EEC-funded three-year High Professional Qualification for Jazz Musicians at Siena Jazz. He is studying with D’Andrea and Pieranunzi.

He later specialized at the Berklee School Of Music in Boston. He has attended seminars with K.Barron, Shirley Scott, P.Metheny, D.Liebman, Ray Brown, among others.

A profound connoisseur of African American music, particularly all Black Music, he is among the most sought-after European pianists/hammondists in the U.S., pursuing a musical discourse that blends the various aspects of music of African American roots with European music and contemporary music.

He was named by referenda in German, French and Dutch trade magazines among the best European blues/soul pianist-organists and cited in New York magazine Down Beat among new talent in the 2008 and 2009 “Keyboards” category.


  • Between ’95 and ’98 he was Gabriella Ferri’s pianist, accompanying her in concerts in Italy, Switzerland and South America.
  • Between ’97 and ’99 he recorded his first CD “Khytera” with Paolino Dalla Porta, Stefano “Cocco” Cantini and Massimo Manzi, with whom he played in several Italian jazz clubs and festivals.
  • From 2008 is his album “Afrocentradelic,” with Gianluca Petrella and Francesco Bearzatti.
  • He has over 50 recordings to his credit as a sideman and 2 as a leader/composer.
  • In October 2012, he is pianist/organist of Adriano Celentano’s concerts at Arena di Verona.
  • In 2018 he played on Joe Bonamassa’s Caribbean Blues Cruise, which he repeated in summer ’21 in Greece.

Over the past 20 years, he has participated as a session player at major Jazz, blues and rock festivals in both Europe and the U.S. and Asia.

He collaborates in jazz with Gianluca Petrella, Roberto Gatto, Francesco Bearzatti, Paolino Dalla Porta, Fabrizio Bosso, Dave Liebman, Dario Deidda, Ares Tavolazzi, Rosario Giuliani, JD Allen, and many others.

In rock, blues, and soul he collaborates with Robben Ford, Joe Bonamassa, Irma Thomas, John Mayall, Ana Popovic, Rudy Rotta, Brian Auger, Sugar Blue, Peter Green, Susan Tedeschi, Koko Taylor, Allen Hinds, and many others.

In pop with Jovanotti, Celentano, Gabriella Ferri, Noemi, Patti Austin, Patty Pravo, Dolcenera, Irene Grandi, Anna Oxa, J-Ax, Nina Zilli, Max Pezzali, Karima, Phil Palmer, Serena Brancale.

Since 2005 he has been a pianist/organist in Ana Popovic’s band, with whom he plays at the biggest blues and jazz festivals in Europe, USA and Asia.

At the same time as his intense concert activity, he is active in teaching with master classes and seminars on piano and keyboards (Hammond Organ, Synth, Clavinet).
