Roberto Tarenzi began studying classical piano at the age of 8.

He studied with Ray Santisi at the Berklee School in Umbria Jazz in 1994, Franco D’Andrea and Enrico Pieranunzi in Siena Jazz in 1996, Enriko Intra and Roberto Pronzato and graduated in 1999.

  • In 1995 he also joined the Big Band directed by Enrico Intra: “Italian Club Graffiti”, “New Perspectives” and “New Italian Graffitti”.
  • In 2003, he met James Cammack, a bassist for over twenty years alongside Ahmad Jamal, who recorded in 2008 the album “Rather Odd”, on behalf of drummer Tony Arco.
  • In October 2005 he recorded with Nat Su’s quartet the CD “Volatile”, released for TCB-Montreux.
  • In December 2005, he recorded live with Dave Liebman; From these sessions two albums were released: “Dream of Nite” and “Negative Space”.
  • In early 2006 he moved to New York, where he performed intensely in clubs and recorded the CD “Comes Love” with singer Alice Ricciardi.

On his return from the United States, he was selected along with eleven other pianists from around the world to participate in the prestigious “Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition”.

In 2008 he began an intense concert activity alongside Stefano Di Battista, Rosario Giuliani, Roberto Gatto, Maurizio Giammarco, Dario Deidda, Fabio Zeppetella, Fabrizio Bosso, Max Ionata.

In 2010 he created, together with Roberto Pistolesi, Pietro Ciancaglini, Stefano Di Battista and Dario Deidda, “Involvingevolvingrevolving”.

It is from 2012 the recording of the CD “Images” by Rosario Giuliani, performed in New York with John Patitucci, Joe Locke and Joe LaBarbera.

Roberto Tarenzi then recorded part of the music of the Oscar-winning film “La Grande Bellezza” by Paolo Sorrentino, released in 2013 and played in a series of concerts with Gino Paoli.
