Sandro Mambella began studying piano at the age of four and attended middle school at the “S.Cecilia” Conservatory in Rome . Nel ’93 inizia a studiare pianoforte jazz con Fabrizio Pieroni e frequenta le Cliniche di Umbria Jazz (1994).

In ’96 he began his composition studies with Teresa Procaccini and continued his jazz piano studies with Ramberto Ciammarughi. He earned his diploma in piano at the “F. Morlacchi” Conservatory of Perugia with Maestro Riccardo Marini in 1998 and the following year attended the Jazz Specialization Course at the Accademia Romana di Musica with Fabrizio Sferra, Maurizio Giammarco, Danilo Rea, Fabio Zeppetella and Giovanni Tommaso.

Then, in 2002, he obtained a Diploma in Jazz Music at the Conservatorio “S.Cecilia” in Rome, under the guidance of Maestro Bruno Tommaso. The following year he enrolled in the Experimental Composition Course at the “N. Piccinni” Conservatory of Bari directed by Maestro Riccardo Santoboni.

His artistic experiences began in ’94 with participation in the concert for fifty pianos “Primi Piani” held in Piazza del Popolo, Rome, on December 31 under the direction of Bruno Tommaso and, among others, with Danilo Rea, Riccardo Fassi, Stefano Sabatini, and Antonello Salis. He also takes part in radio and TV shows “Stasera a Via Asiago, 10” directed by Umberto Broccoli (Radiorai 2) and “Bianco e Nero” (Rai 2).

In 2001 he formed the “Sandro Mambella Quartet” with which he participated in various musical festivals including the 8th edition of “Concerts under the Stars” in Pescara and the “XV Concert Review” in Caramanico Terme. His teaching activities began in 1993. Beginning in 1998, he started working as a music consultant at Mediaset networks.

In July/August of the same year, he was Mario Raja’s assistant and collaborator at the Siena Jazz seminars for the laboratory orchestra.

Since 2010, he has also been working as an organist in various musical fields, from jazz to rock to soul, alongside his piano activity. Among the various ensembles: an organ trio on the music of guitarist John McLaughlin and the rock group of actor Pasquale Petrolo, aka Lillo.
