Jamming 2019 is the show promoted by Saint Louis dedicated to emerging bands and the discovery of new talents in every musical field.

On the stage of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, the Festival under the artistic direction of Stefano Mastruzzi and Francesca Gregori, over the last 17 years has promoted young experimentation at the international level and the best emerging Italian artists, giving space to the most varied musical offer of sound universes.

This year too, a careful selection brings onto the stage very young artists, jazzists, singers, producers, composers and authors who perform, during several evenings, presenting their original music project, alongside outstanding established artists such as Serena Brancale, Natalio Mangalavite and Vincenzo Presta.

“This is the new world, returned by its youngest artists, in phase with the vibrations of our time, a-synchronous interpreters of a social reality that every day more belongs to them and less and less to the previous generations, in an evolutionary projection that must inevitably express its intentions and ideals”.

Stefano Mastruzzi, artistic director.

CIGNO is the nickname of Diego Cignitti. Roman musician and singer-songwriter. In his live, he roots in the blues and rock influences with which he was formed as a guitarist and wisely blends them into pop atmospheres, finding inspiration in what was the sixties musical landscape. His sound is flying and is enriched by an undergound character poetry typical of the Roman independent reality. His live is set in the contemporary, floating in rare atmospheres “Vapor Wave”.

The singer-songwriter Giuseppe Pugliese, in Porthos art, proposes to the Jammin’ year 2019 and focuses his style on the synergy between text and music, searching for the sound, the arrangement and the most inherent and meaningful composition for the words expressed. For this reason the styles vary depending on the text in order to leave in the listener a thought, finding themselves for 3 minutes in a world where to recognize, inhabiting it with an emotion.

“Jazz Tales”

Milan Verbist Trio
The trio consists of three students of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: Milan Verbist (piano), Jef Manderveld (counterbass) and Simon Van Brandt (batteria). The main source of inspiration are musicians from the 1950s and 1960s such as Phineas Newborn, McCoy Tyner, Paul Chambers, Charles Mingus, Elvin Jones, Philly Joe Jones. Their repertoire ranges from standard jazz to hard bop and original compositions. In Belgium they play frequently in various jazz clubs and participate in important national events such as Klara in deSingel and Zomer Van Antwerpen.

At Jamming 2019, the winner of the B-Jazz International Contest 2019, the ensemble consisting of three female voices, soprano sax, piano, bass and drums explores musical communication through world music. It was the friendship and common musical sensitivity shared with Emmanuelle Duvillard that inspired Louise Andri to develop a repertoire that brings together different cultures and musical expressions but is based mainly on traditional Bulgarian songs revisited with the freedom of improvisation of jazz, with the intention of passing on the musical memory transmitted by the old generations, making it evolve in the world of today. Hence the name Aishinka, which in Japanese means “love of evolution”.

Latin Luis Combo
Music project dedicated to the free world of Latin-jazz contaminations, born within the music school of Saint Louis and directed by the pianist Natalio Mangalavite. A large orchestral organic offers a repertoire of experimentation, combining jazz with Latin and South American rhythms and languages.
