Battery Tutorial

FORMATED / BOOK

Over the years, students have often asked me questions aimed primarily at understanding what they could not find on the “sacred texts” of battery teaching.

Power Pattern, it was and is definitely my personal interpretation of the texts I had studied, like everyone else, and that I had strived to make creatively stimulating.

I have often found myself fighting false and misleading superstructures, especially with regard to the study of the box and the double pedal (strumento relativamente moderno e per questo ancora privo di una didattica solida).

On this manual for the battery I decided to base this text mainly on the use of the cashier and on how to save energy in order to be able to maintain lucidity and relaxation, necessary for a run free from dangerous physical impediments.

I am talking mainly to all the boys and not, who make the acceleration on the double pedal a test of bacterial virility and not an artistic necessity as, in my opinion, should be for every technical improvement.

Remember: The sound is the most important thing and the sound of the box in rock and pop is obtained with precise constraints that are often forgotten to promote the speed of the hits.

Power Pattern in short:

  • you do not have to pull too much skin to have more bounce and thus obtain a semi-timbales of 22;
  • you do not have to move the double pedal handles 2 cm from the skin to go faster… yes… but with a popping sound!
  • you do not need to use the Triggers to digitally compress the dynamic differences between the two feet making the sound of your box more similar to the noise of a mixer than to the sounds of a musical instrument.

So give us down and remember: “power is nothing without control”
